ROAD WARRIORS ROLL OVER ‘FISH
The Road Warriors defeated the Bridgeport Bluefish in game two of the three game series 10-5. During the game Jesse Hoorelbeke broke his 15 game home run draught, the longest of the season, with his 29th home run.
The Road Warriors were able to jump out to an early lead picking up two runs in the first inning. Bluefish starting pitcher Manny Ulloa was not able to keep the Warriors off of the base paths as they were able to score three more runs in the top of the third. Garrett Berger came in to relieve Ulloa with bases loaded and allowed only one run on a hit batsman before retiring the next two batters.
The Bluefish staged slow and steady comeback through the next five innings coming to within two runs of the Warriors. During that span Hoorelbeke went yard, destroying the ball off of the Arena in left field.
Chad Bentz took over pitching duties in the top of the eighth for the ‘Fish and allowed two runs before being relieved by Sean Fesh. The Bluefish picked up another run in the bottom of the eighth, but the Warriors pulled away again in the top of the ninth with two more runs to end the scoring at ten to five.
Charlie Hesseltine (3-5) of the Road Warriors picked up the win in the game pitching 5.1 innings and allowing only two runs, one earned. Manny Ulloa (7-7) of the Bluefish absorbed the loss going 2.1 innings and allowed six runs. Warriors’ Julio Guerrero recorded his fourth save of the season.
The Bluefish end their nine game home-stand tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. in the rubber match against the Road Warriors. Friday is Fun-For-All Day with a Thunderstix giveaway.
