‘FISH CHUM BACK AGAINST SHARKS
The Bridgeport Bluefish were able to grab the rubber game of the series versus the Camden Riversharks by a score of 5-2. Bluefish starting pitcher Nick Bierbrodt pitched a gem going seven innings, allowing only two runs on four hits and picked up his second win of the season.
The Riversharks started things off in the top of the second with an RBI single to left by Matt Demarco. The ‘Fish responded quickly in the bottom half of the inning as Marcos Sanchez started things off with a SAC fly scoring Jay Caligiuri from third. Johnny Hernandez then ripped a line drive off the wall for a double scoring Luis Figueroa from second.
The Sharks were able to tie it back up at two in the top of the fourth inning when Cristian Guerrero hit a monster solo home run clearing the net in left field. The tie did not last long as Quinton McCracken led off the bottom of the fifth with a stand up double followed by a hard hit shot to center by Jesse Hoorelbeke to score McCracken.
Hernandez continued his spectacular game with his third hit, second double, in the bottom of the sixth giving the ‘Fish second and third. Bobby Malek then ripped a ball down the right field line for a stand up triple scoring two in the process and ended the scoring of the game.
Sean Fesh made his first appearance in relief since June 8th taking over duties in the eighth inning. Fesh returned from a long stint on the disabled list and struck out the first batter he faced. Franklin Perez closed out the game picking up his sixth save of the season.
Camden starting pitcher Greg Powell took his tenth loss of the season after pitching six innings and allowing five runs.
The Bluefish continue their home-stand tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. against the Road Warriors. Wednesday is $1.00 Dog Day with one dollar hot dogs and sodas.
