WARRIORS SINK ‘FISH TO THE BOTTOM
The Road Warriors were victorious yet again over the Bridgeport Bluefish with a final score of 9-2. Steven Doetsch was the top producer for the Road Warriors going two-for-three with a home run, three runs scored and four RBIs.
The Road Warriors attacked early and often recording their first six runs through six innings of play. Four Warriors recorded multi-hit games and three recorded multi-RBI games. Doetsch was not the only standout for the team as Travis Ezi picked up two hits and three RBIs in five at-bats.
The Bluefish continued to slump in today’s game. The team accumulated all five hits through the first seven innings, but when in scoring position the ‘Fish couldn’t seem to touch all four. In the bottom of the eighth the Bluefish loaded the bases off three walks by Kevin Mannix before Julio Guerrero took over pitching duties. Jay Caligiuri hit a slow ground ball up the middle that shortstop Josh Arteaga threw to first to turn the double play but his throw was off. Two ‘Fish runners scored and broke the Road Warrior’s shutout. The ‘Fish were unable to light up the board again for the remainder of the game.
Warrior’s right fielder Steven Doetsch responded to Bridgeport’s sudden spark with a three run home run to add a little cushion to their six runs. Road Warriors starting pitcher Carlos Castillo picks up his eighth win of the season with Bluefish starter Nick Bierbrodt recording his second loss.
Tomorrow is family and senior day at the ballpark beginning at 2:05 P.M. Jake the Diamond Dog will be visiting at Harbor Yard serving as the home team’s bat boy and water boy plus a seat cushion giveaway.
