‘FISH REVOLT AGAINST REVOLUTION
The Revolution sank deep in Bluefish waters today. The Bridgeport Bluefish won their second consecutive game over the York Revolution today with a final score of 10-4.
Early in the first inning York’s Keoni De Renne hit a double to left center and later scored. This first jump was not representative of the rest of the game as the Revolution’s bats grew lifeless and Bridgeport overwhelmed all of York’s pitchers.
In the second inning Nick Ortiz sparked a hitting streak with a triple which scored teammates Luis Figueroa, John Nathans and Steven Hine. Quinton McCracken batted in Ortiz with a base hit. The Bluefish rally continued into the bottom of the third inning where Jesse Hoorelbeke went deep off a pitch by David Maust to hit his 26th homerun of the season.
Starter David Maust was relieved by Byron Batson after giving up six runs in five innings. Unfortunately for York, Batson continued to allow Bluefish to score giving up a grand slam to McCracken in the sixth. Victor Kleine finished the game but the damage was already done.
Matt Beech kept runs to a minimal, allowing only 2 runs in six innings while striking out six. Mercado struck out one after relieving Beech in the seventh inning. Evan Fahrner made an appearance and Garrett Berger finished out the game.
Tomorrow night the two teams meet again at Harbor Yard at 7:05 P.M. for the final game of the three game series where the ‘Fish will look to sweep York. Tomorrow is Thirsty Thursday where beer, popcorn and soda are all half price.
