LANCASTER STORMS BRIDGEPORT
The storm wasn’t over for the Bridgeport Bluefish today. Though the sun was shining, Lancaster’s batters continued to pour runs through the cracks in Bridgeport’s infield at Harbor Yard. The Bluefish dropped both games of the series after losing today 11-1.
Lancaster’s scoring binge started in the second inning as Bridgeport pitcher Nick Bierbrodt loaded the bases by walking two and hitting one batter. ‘Stormer Chris Van Rossum responded by cleaning up the bases with a three-run double scoring Jeremy Todd, Steve Van Note and Feliz Martinez. Michael Woods added to this with his solo homerun to lead off the fourth inning.
The Barnstormers continued to attack the Bluefish pitching after Steven Kent relieved Bierbrodt in the third by scoring six more runs in the fourth. Mike Woods lead off the inning with a solo shot. Kent was able to get to consecutive outs but then an array of walks, singles and a hit by pitch combined to finish out the 5 other runs in the inning.
Bobby Malek was the only ‘Fish able to cross the plate in the game after he tripled to center and scored after tagging up on a fly ball hit by Willis Otanez.
Evan Fahrner, Garret Berger, Hector Mercado and Eddy Ramos made pitching appearances as well with Ramos finishing it off.
Barnstormer pitchers including starter Gustavo Martinez, Barry Armitage, Brett Evert and Ross Peeples allowing a combined three hits and one run.
The Bluefish will play again on Tuesday, August 14th at 7:05 P.M. against the Long Island Ducks here at Harbor Yard. Tuesday is Two-For-One Tuesday’s with tattoos and stickers for all kids!
