‘SHARKS DEVOUR ‘FISH
The Camden Riversharks broke the Bridgeport Bluefish’s win streak as they took game two of the series by a score of 3-1. Camden starter Ryan Schurman pitched eight solid innings against the ‘Fish, allowing only one run off seven hits in that span.
The Riversharks jumped out to an early lead with two runs in the top of the second inning before a hush in the action. It was not until the bottom of the fourth that the ‘Fish were able to put a hit on the board as Bobby Malek led off with a single. Quinton McCracken then legged out a bunt before Jesse Hoorelbeke smacked a line drive base hit to left to score Malek from second, the only run the ‘Fish would see all game.
The game slowed with three scoreless innings before ‘Shark Denny Abreu broke the silence with a solo shot to center, his 11th home run of the season, increasing their lead three to one.
Bluefish starting pitcher Mike Porzio (10-7) pitched a complete game in the loss, allowing three runs on eight hits. Schurman (7-6) picked up the win after eight innings before Alberto Castillo closed out the game and picked up his 3rd save of the season.
The Bluefish continue their home-stand tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. for the rubber match of the series. Tuesday is Two-For-One Tuesday with two-for-one specials on tickets and selected food items.
