REVS GET REVENGE ON ‘FISH
The Bridgeport Bluefish couldn’t manage to finish what they started in the first two games. Instead of finding the three game sweep that they were looking for they finished with a 1-0 loss to their visitors, the York Revolution.
The game was almost scoreless, coupling good defense and lackluster swings, with the exception of York’s solo home run in the top of the second off the bat of Matt Dryer.
The Bluefish began to threaten in the bottom of the fifth inning, however, when Johnny Hernandez ran on Steve Hine’s fly out, he could not beat center fielder Kazunori Tanaka’s throw back to first.
Bridgeport starting pitcher Enmanuel Ulloa allowed the game’s only run on eight hits in his seven innings pitched before he was relieved by Evan Fahrner, who made a short appearance in the eighth. Franklin Perez closed it out for the Bluefish.
The Revolution’s hurler Frank Castillo topped the performances of Ulloa and Fahrner in his eight innings of work shutting out Bridgeport and allowing only five hits. In the bottom of the ninth, Franklin Nunez relieved Castillo and allowed only one hit, the sixth of the game, to complete the shutout.
The Bluefish/Revolution series ends leaving the ‘Fish with a record of 46-44 on the season. Bridgeport takes on the Lancaster Barnstormers at 7:05 P.M. tomorrow night at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard. Friday at the park is Fun-For-All Friday and there will be free giveaways and a chance for all to win prizes.
