JACKHAMMERS RIGHT-HANDER NATE SEVIER NAMED NORTHERN LEAGUE PITCHER OF THE WEEK

JOLIET,IL-Joliet JackHammers right-handed pitcher Nate Sevier has been named Northern League Pitcher of the Week for the week ending on August 19. The honor caps off a week where Sevier threw the 11^th no-hitter in Northern League history by holding the Gary SouthShore RailCats to just three base runners in a 3-0 JackHammers victory on Saturday, August 17. It was the first seven-inning no-hitter in the Northern League in over 40 years. The Northern League last saw a no-hitter on August 6, 2005 when JackHammers left-hander Luis Villarreal pitched a no-hitter against the Kansas City T-Bones at Silver Cross Field. The announcement was made by Northern League Director of Operations Harry Stavrenos.

Sevier was simply masterful in the no-hitter. At one point he retired 14 consecutive hitters from the middle of the first inning through the end of the fifth inning. Sevier struck out eight RailCats hitters. It was his second complete game for the JackHammers in 2007.

Schaumburg Flyers DH Jimmy Hurst won Northern League Player of the Week honors by hitting .455 with three home runs and 13 RBI.

Loose Gravel: This is the second time a JackHammer has won pitcher of the week honors in 2007. Sevier also won pitcher of the week honors for the week ending June 24.
