T-Bones Fall Short in 4-2 Loss

Watson extends hit-streak to 14

CALGARY, Alb. – After an 18-run, 22-hit performance Sunday, Jordy Alexander silenced the Kansas City bats, allowing two runs in six innings of work as Calgary improved to 6-1 against the T-Bones this season with a 4-2 victory.

Finding themselves down in each of the last two games, it was Calgary's turn to get on the board first Monday, as Justin Colson's two-run home run in the first gave the Vipers the early 2-0 lead.

After extending his career-long hitting streak to 14 games on a one-out double in the third, Rob Watson would come around to score three batters later on Calvin Pickering's RBI single that brought Kansas City within one.

Kansas City had a chance to tie or take the lead in the fifth with runners at first and second with no outs, but Alexander struck out three T-Bones in a row to end the inning without any damage.

Calgary restored their two-run lead in the fifth on Darryl Brinkley's RBI single that made the score 3-1 in favor of the Vipers. Another RBI single, this time by Carlos Duncan, extended Calgary's lead to three.

The T-Bones came within two of the Vipers on Al Benjamin's RBI single in the seventh that scored Rob Watson to make the score 4-2, but that was all the Calgary bullpen would give up to win game four of the five-game series with Kansas City.

After surrendering nine hits in each of his last three starts, Chris Krawczyk gave up a career-high 10 hits in six innings of work, allowing four runs with two strikeouts and a walk in the losing effort. Travis Schlichting pitched to two batters striking out both before Danny Core came in to pitch a scoreless ninth. Alexander went six and one-third innings with two runs on seven hits and eight strikeouts to earn the victory.

Game Notes: Mario Delgado's two strikeouts in the first and fifth innings brought his total to three in his last 55 at-bats…The first baseman has recorded 24 hits during that span…Delgado continued his 11-game road hitting streak in the third with a single…Rob Watson is hitting .446 (25-for-56) with five doubles, 10 RBI and 18 runs scored during his 14-game hitting streak…Watson is also riding a 17-game on-base streak…Calvin Pickering extended his on-base streaks to 18 games on the road and 22 games overall…Pickering has at least one RBI in eight of the last 10 games for Kansas City…Chris Krawczyk's six innings tied for the longest outing of his career…Delgado's one-for-four day at the plate ended his multi-hit game streak at five...Kansas City fell to 4-63 over the last two seasons when trailing after eight innings.
