Paulo Wanchope Introductory Press Conference Monday

Fire’s latest signing to be introduced at 11:30 a.m. CT after training

 

BRIDGEVIEW, IL (July 27, 2007) – Chicago Fire Soccer has announced that Costa Rica international forward Paulo Wanchope (pronounced wahn-CHO-pay) will be introduced to the media on Monday, July 30, at 11:30 a.m. CT in the TOYOTA PARK press conference room following the Fire’s training session.  Fire President/CEO John Guppy and head coach Juan Carlos Osorio will both be on hand to introduce Wanchope, with all three available to answer questions from the media. Media members are asked to arrive at 11:15 a.m. CT.

Wanchope began his career with Club Sport Herediano (1994-96), before moving on to England to play with Derby County (1996-1999), West Ham United (1999-00), and Manchester City (2000-04), where he played under Fire head coach Juan Carlos Osorio. Wanchope has since seen stints with Malaga CF (2004-05), Al-Gharrafa Sports Club (2005), CS Herediano (2006), Rosario Central (2006), and most recently FC Tokyo (2007). The Costa Rican international is his country’s all-time leading goalscorer has played in several Gold Cups, as well as the 2002 and 2006 FIFA World Cups.
