The RedHawks scored two unearned runs in the eighth inning to tie the game and then won it in the ninth after RailCats starting pitcher Willie Glen turned in his second consecutive dominant start on the mound for the RailCats.
Meanwhile, Glen allowed only three base runners over the first seven innings, all singles, and allowed only one runner as far as second base. In the eighth, Glen walked Mike Just with one out, his only walk of the night, and after Glen struck out Casey Haugen for the second out, Joe Mathis hit a high fly toward the line in left. Left fielder Jermaine Allensworth raced toward the line and reached for the ball but it hit off his glove for a three base error as Just scored and Mathis went to third to make it 2-1. Glen, having thrown 124 pitches after a nine inning shutout performance on Sunday, was replaced on the mound by Steve Obenchain. Kory Wayment greeted Obenchain with a double to center to drive in the tying run and even the score at 2-2.
The RailCats loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the eighth, but F-M reliever Jason Schutt (4-3) induced an inning-ending ground out from pinch hitter Nate Price to keep the game tied.
Tony Cogan (1-6) entered the game to start the ninth inning and allowed back-to-back singles to Richard Austin and Ruben Salazar to start the inning. With one out, Shorsher lined a single to center to score
Nate Cotton pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth for his 13th save for Fargo-Moorhead.
