RAILCATS ACTIVATE ERIC BLAKELEY;

PLACE BRAD MUMMA ON DISABLED LIST

Gary, Ind.—The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club announced today that infielder Eric Blakeley has been activated from the disabled list, while pitcher Brad Mumma has been placed on the seven day disabled list, retroactive to July 8.  Mumma (illness) will be eligible to be reinstated to the active roster on Sunday.

 

Blakeley, who plays all four positions in the infield, has appeared in 14 games for the RailCats this season, batting .250 with no home runs and four runs batted in. 

 

Mumma, a left-handed relief pitcher, has appeared in 23 games out of the bullpen, posting a record of 1-2 with a 2.52 earned run average.

 

The RailCats roster is currently at 21 players, one below the Northern League limit.  They have three rookies on the active roster and will be required to add a rookie when they increase the roster to 22 players.

 

The RailCats play at Joliet tonight through Sunday before returning home to open a seven game homestand at U. S. Steel Yard on Monday.  For tickets, call (219) 882-2255.

 

The RailCats won the first half title in the Northern League's South Division, earning a spot in the league playoffs in September.
