Evansville, IN – The visiting Kalamazoo Kings topped the Evansville Otters in both games of a double header Saturday night at Bosse Field by final scores of 7-4 and 1-0. In the conclusion of Friday night’s rain out, Kalamazoo blasted three homers in route to their 7-4 victory. The Kings led 6-1 after 5 ½ innings before Evansville rallied for two runs in the bottom of the 6th, closing the game to 6-3. Kalamazoo added one in the 8th before the Otters got one of their own in bottom half of the inning, rounding out the scoring. Kasey Wahl finished the game 2 for 4, driving in two runs, with designated hitter Mike Spry driving in a run of his own on a one out single in the 6th en route to a 2 for 3 night. In the 7-inning nightcap, Kalamazoo’s Joe Ramos scored on an error in the 4th for the game’s lone run. Evansville’s best run scoring opportunity came in the bottom of the 6th when Matt Reynolds delivered a one out double followed by a single off the bat of Daniel Burton. Mike Spry was intentionally walked after Burton stole second base, loading the bases with one out in the inning. However, the Otters failed to score after grounding into an inning ending double play. Evansville starter Justin Jordan tossed a complete game, four hitter, allowing no earned runs and striking out a season high 10 Kalamazoo hitters, walking only one. The Otters wrap of the series with Kalamazoo tomorrow night in a 3:05 start at Bosse Field.
