Kerber (2-4) allowed just five hits and one walk while striking out three over eight frames. He allowed three hits and all three runs in the fifth inning but allowed only two other base runners over the other seven. He did not allow a man to reach base after the fifth.
The RailCats scored four runs in the third inning to take the lead. Dale Mueller and Dave Detienne both walked with one out and one batter later, Pecci lifted a double to left-center to drive in both runners and make it 2-0. Steve Haake singled in Pecci to make it 3-0, and Jose Yepez followed with a double to drive in Haake and make it 4-0.
Kerber did not allow a runner past first base over the first four innings but allowed a lead-off walk in the fifth followed by a double by Dennis Blackmon and an infield single by Jake Whitesides to drive the first run. Kevin Sullivan followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Blackmon and with two outs, Kerber uncorked a wild pitch to bring in Whitesides and make it 4-3.
The RailCats scored the game's final run in the sixth on a lead-off single by Jermaine Allensworth followed by a run-scoring double by Nate Price to make it 5-3.
