The loss left the RedHawks on the verge of elimination in the North Division first half race as they awaited the conclusion of the Calgary-Schaumburg game. One more
RailCats starting pitcher Josh Habel (8-3) fired seven scoreless innings to earn the win and take over the league lead in victories. Habel allowed just three hits and walked four while striking out five. He did not a base runner until the fourth and did not give up a base hit until the fifth inning. Habel pitched out of bases loaded jams in both the sixth and the seventh to keep the game scoreless.
Haake led off the bottom of the seventh by drilling a high change-up from Fargo-Moorhead starting pitcher Gerrit Simpson (1-5) into the right field seats, Haake's second home run of the season.
Relievers David Byard and Brad Mumma combined to work a scoreless eighth inning for the RailCats and Chad Blackwell retired the side in order in the ninth for his third save of the season.
Simpson was the hard-luck loser for Fargo-Moorhead, allowing six hits over seven innings with three walks and three strikeouts.
