FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: July 26, 2007
GRIZZLIES TO WELCOME ONE-MILLIONTH FAN
The Gateway Grizzlies will welcome their One Millionth regular season fan to GCS Ballpark very soon. The team expects to reach the milestone sometime in the next home series. The team is just 8,879 fans away from the historic mark. To date the Grizzlies have drawn 991,171 fans in their history. That total includes the previous five seasons at GCS Ballpark as well as the inaugural season at Sauget Field.
They will become just the third Frontier League organization to draw one million regular season fans. Evansville and Washington have both previously eclipsed the One Million mark.
For the lucky fan, the Grizzlies have numerous prizes in store. The fan will become an instant millionaire. . .in Vietnam. The lucky fans will receive 1,000,000 Vietnamese Dong. They will also receive two 10-game mini-plan packages for the 2008 Gateway Grizzlies season, a custom made Grizzlies home jersey, a team autographed ball and bat, plus a gift certificate for use inside Izzy's Den, good for other Grizzlies merchandise. The fan will also spend one half-inning on a Grizzlies radio broadcast.
"This is a huge deal for us," Grizzlies General Manager Tony Funderburg said. "We want to make it a huge deal for that fan. This milestone is special. It proves the loyalty of Grizzlies fans, and baseball fans in the St. Louis area."
The Grizzlies begin a three-game series with the Florence Freedom Monday night at GCS Ballpark. Tickets remain for all three games. They can be purchased in person at the GCS Ballpark box office, by phone at 618-337-3000 or online at www.gatewaygrizzlies.com.
