GRIZZLIES SLIP BY HAWKS IN 11

Josh Dietz singled with one out in the 11th inning Thursday night to lift the Gateway Grizzlies to a 2-1 extra inning victory over the Rockford RiverHawks at GCS Ballpark. The Grizzlies have now won eight straight.

Dietz's pinch-hit single scored Greg Andrews who had walked to lead off the inning.

The Grizzlies (32-10) took the first lead of the night with a run in the second inning. Jesse Acosta singled to drive in Stephen Holdren.

Rockford (20-22) tied the game with a run in the fourth inning and it remained that way until the 11th.

Justin Staatz (1-3) earned the win in relief. Staatz pitched two scoreless innings. He struck out one.

The Grizzlies will go for the sweep Friday night at GCS Ballpark. Game time against the RiverHawks is 7:05 p.m. The ZooperStars will perform.
