GRIZZLIES RALLY PAST OTTERS
Jonathan Armitage's three-run home run in the fifth inning Friday night erased a 2-0 deficit and the Grizzlies held on for a 7-3 win over the Evansville Otters in front of 5,071 at GCS Ballpark. The win keeps the Grizzlies perfect in nine games this season against Evansville.
Evansville (23-32) tied the score with a run in the sixth, before the Grizzlies (39-15) went ahead in the bottom of the inning.
Stephen Holdren led off the inning with a triple off the center field wall. Mike Breyman followed with a sacrifice fly to center to make it 4-3 Grizzlies. Two batters later Manny Paula ripped his fourth home run of the year to put the Grizzlies up 5-3. Holdren drove in a run in the seventh to make it 6-3. Armitage extended the lead to 7-3 with a bases loaded walk in the eighth inning.
Erik Dessau (8-1) tossed eight innings for the win. He allowed three runs, one earned, on eight hits. He struck out six. Dessau is now tied, with teammate Toro Trevino, for the league lead with the eight wins.
The Grizzlies and the Otters finish off the short two-game series with a 6:05 p.m. game Sunday night at GCS Ballpark.
