GRIZZLIES MANAGER TO SKIPPER ALL-STAR TEAM
The Frontier League announced today that Gateway Grizzlies first-year manager Phil Warren will skipper the South Region All-Star team at next week's game.
Because the league is divided into three divisions, the league was divided into regions, North and South. The Grizzlies are part of the South Region, along with the River City Rascals, the Southern (Marion) Illinois Miners, the Evansville Otters, the Florence (Ky.) Freedom, and the Chillicothe (Oh.) Paints.
Warren earned the right to manage the squad by virtue of his team having the best winning percentage at the break. The Grizzlies currently have a 28-10 record. The club leads the West Division by six games over the Southern Illinois Miners.
"This is an honor," Warren said of the selection. "Honestly it is because of my team and the way the guys have played in the first half. My staff and I will get a chance to see the cream of the crop in the league and to have some fun."
The 15th annual All-Star game will be played at Florence's Champion Window Field July 11.
