GRIZZLIES HOMER PAST MINERS
 
The Grizzlies combined a pair of home runs and strong pitching Friday night to defeat the Southern Illinois Miners 6-2 in front of 4,986 at GCS Ballpark.  The win extends the Grizzlies West Division lead to 10 1/2 games.
 
The Grizzlies trailed 2-0 when the Grizzlies got on the board in the sixth.  Stephen Holdren hit his league-leading 16th home run of the year, a three-run shot, to put the Grizzlies up for good. The home run followed a walk to Dustin Roberts and a double by Mike Breyman.  Holdren now has 44 RBIs to lead the team.
 
Roberts was 3-3 with a run.  Breyman was 1-3 with a pair of runs.
 
Jonathan Armitage extended the lead in the seventh with a two-run home run, his seventh of the year.  His home run scored Manny Paula who had singled to lead off the inning.  Breyman scored later in the inning on a wild pitch to make it 6-2.
 
Newly acquired outfielder Jeff Vincent added two hits in the win.
 
Toro Trevino (8-1) earned the win going seven innings.  He allowed two runs on nine hits.  He struck out five and walked one.  Brandon Kellbach pitched two scoreless innings in relief. 
 
The Grizzlies welcome the Evansville Otters to GCS Ballpark for a two game series beginning Saturday night.  Game time is 7:05 p.m.
