GRIZZLIES BLANKED BY 'HAWKS
The Rockford RiverHawks shut out the Gateway Grizzlies Monday night 7-0 in front of 2,208 at Road Ranger Stadium in Loves Park, IL. The loss is the Grizzlies fourth in a row. Three of those loses have been by way of shutout.
Rockford (25-25) used three home runs to keep the Grizzlies (36-14) winless since the All-Star break.
Erik Dessau (7-1) suffered his first loss of the season going 6.2 innings allowing six runs, on 11 Rockford hits. He struck out six and walked one. Closer Eric Ridener pitched the ninth for the Grizzlies, allowing a run.
The Grizzlies stranded eight on base Monday night, including leaving the bases loaded in the second inning. Josh Dietz was walked to lead off the inning before Ryan Sullivan lined a double to right center. Kyle Bradburry was hit by a pitch with one out to load the bases. The Grizzlies stranded two more in the fifth after back-to-back two-out hits from Ryan Saltzgaber and Jonathan Armitage. They also left two on in the sixth. Sulivan doubled with one out and Eric Beck walked.
Sullivan finished the night 2-4 with the pair of doubles.
The Grizzlies and RiverHawks continue the series with a 7:05 game Tuesday night at Road Ranger Stadium.
