GRIZZLIES BLANKED AGAIN
The Gateway Grizzlies hadn't been shutout all season, they have now been blanked on two consecutive nights. The Windy City ThunderBolts defeated the Grizzlies 5-0 Saturday night in front of a season-high 5,821 at GCS Ballpark.
The Grizzlies and ThunderBolts are now tied for the best record in the league at 36-12.
Windy City took the lead with a run on three hits in the second inning off of Grizzlies starter Chris Little. Little (4-3) went 6.2 innings in the loss. He allowed four runs on 11 hits. He struck out five and walked just one.
The 'Bolts would add a pair of runs on three hits in the fifth to extend the lead to 3-0. A solo homer in the seventh made it 4-0.
Ryan Saltzgaber was the only Grizzlies player with more than a single hit. He was 2-4 with a pair of singles. Stephen Holdren, Josh Dietz and Charlie Lisk each added a single hit for the night.
The Grizzlies will try to avoid the sweep Sunday night. They host Windy City in the finale of the three-game series at GCS Ballpark. Game time is 6:05 p.m.
