Evansville, IN – What a finish at Bosse Field Tuesday night! The Otters
trailed most of the game, closed the gap to 2-1 in the seventh on a Mike
Spry home run, his third of the year, and got things going in the ninth.
Ryan Bethel led things off with a single in the final frame, and after
being sacrificed to second, made third on a wild pitch. With two outs,
Freedom reliever Mark Janszen uncorked another wild pitch that brought the
tying run home with two outs. JC Field would reach base on a walk, and
with two outs, Evansville native Kyle Smith crushed a fastball over the
left field wall and out of the park, giving the Otters the 4-2 win in
dramatic fashion. The Otters are back in action tomorrow night at 7:05,
it's Millennium Steel's "Salute to Negro Leagues", complete with fireworks
at Bosse Field.
