‘FISH SALVAGE SERIES
After dropping the first two games, the Bridgeport Bluefish were able to salvage the series by taking game three over the Camden Riversharks 9-3. The offensive show that the ‘Fish have put on in the past seemed to pick back up as the team blasted three out of the park en route to the win.
The ‘Fish swam past the ‘Sharks early in the game picking up four runs in the first. The power surge started during that span as Jesse Hoorelbeke put out his league leading 20th home run scoring two. Jay Caligiuri and Bobby Malek came in with back-to-back doubles following the blast.
The Riversharks were able to take two back in the top of the second with RBIs off the bats of Ryan Lehr and Milko Jaramillo. With bases loaded later in the inning, Bluefish starting pitcher Steven Kent was able to work out of the jam before too much damage could be done.
The ‘Fish didn’t allow the threat to stand for long as they scored two more in the third and then three more in the fifth. During that time Junior Spivey smacked a big fly to left center and Malek destroyed a ball over the right field wall.
Kent (3-1) finished the game with 6.1 innings pitched and allowed only three runs while picking up his third win of the season. Relief pitcher Evan Fahrner saw some action late going 2.2 innings and struck out three. Camden starting pitcher Luke Lockwood (1-2) recorded the loss.
Tonight’s game ended the home-stand against the Camden Riversharks, but the Bluefish will begin another home-stand against the Somerset Patriots tomorrow at 6:05 P.M. There will be a special appearance by Simon Says as well as post-game fireworks.
