NO DAY AT THE BEECH FOR ROAD WARRIORS

 

Bridgeport Bluefish Pitcher Matt Beech picks up his eighth win as the Bluefish overtake the Road Warriors 6-1.  This was the second straight victory of the three-game series for the Bluefish, staying in the race for first in the North Division.

 

The ‘Fish took the lead in the third as John Nathans scored off of Darwin Soto’s wild pitch.  Manny Mejia of the Road Warriors crossed the plate off of Omar Garcia’s deep center field double in the fifth to tie up the game 1-1.

 

The Park City Blues stormed back in the sixth as Lou Lucca and Junior Spivey crossed the plate on a throwing error by Soto.  Malek laid down a bunt that Soto sent flying into right field, allowing the two to score.  Marcos Sanchez and Quinton McCracken knocked in two more insurance runs in the eighth to wrap it up.

 

Beech pitched a gem for the ‘Fish, going seven solid innings, striking out 6 and allowing only one run.  Road Warrior Trevor Marcotte (4-4) records his fourth loss of the season.  Relievers Franklin Perez and Eddy Ramos of the Bluefish both saw late action work allowing no runs.

 

The Bluefish will finish up the series against the Road Warriors tomorrow at 7:05 P.M. Monday Night is All Faith Night at the Ballpark.  After Monday’s game the ‘Fish will host the Newark Bears through Thursday.  On Tuesday and Wednesday night Patriot National Bank will be sponsoring the Fourth of July Fireworks with special giveaways and prizes.
