‘SHARKS SWALLOW ‘FISH IN TWO STRAIGHT
It was a bad day for the Bridgeport Bluefish as they struggled to keep up with the active bats of their guests, the Camden Riversharks. ‘Sharks short stop Milko Jaramillo started it off with a grand slam in the top of the second and they never looked back overtaking the ‘Fish 12-5.
Jaramillo’s bat kept alive, leading off the fourth inning with his second home run of the game and finished with five RBIs on the day. Ryan Lehr and Christian Guerrero were the other ‘Shark standouts both picking up three hits and three RBIs on the day.
Despite a slow start, the Bluefish were able to get something going late in the fifth. Jay Caligiuri began the rally with a double to center field. Junior Spivey and Vince Blue joined Caligiuri to load the bases for second baseman, Steve Hine, who hit a hard line drive up the middle to score Caligiuri and Spivey. Catcher John Nathans singled later on to score Blue and then the bats fell silent.
During the late innings the ‘Fish were able to pick up two more. Right fielder Bobby Malek broke out of a 0-for-16 slump with an RBI single in the eighth and designated hitter Marcos Sanchez went yard in the ninth.
Bluefish pitcher Justin Sturge (6-6) struggled early on, allowing nine runs on 11 hits in the first five innings of the game. Winning pitcher Anthony Ferrari allowed only five hits in his appearance today and took the win to improve his record to 10-2.
