LATE NIGHT RALLY SAVES FISH’S TAIL
The Bluefish struggled late in the game but managed to hold on for the win with a final of 10-8, sweeping the Road Warriors in the three game series. Eddy Ramos gets credited for the win evening his record to 1-1 while Matt Perisho picks up his first save of the season.
It was far from a pitcher’s duel with 25 hits total for the game, 4 of them being home runs coming off the bats of Bluefish Jesse Hoorelbeke and Quinton McCracken and Road Warriors Manny Mejia and Vito Chiaravolloti. Chiaravolloti also had a bases loaded double in the 8th scoring 3 runs and giving the Road Warriors their first and only lead of the game.
The excitement came in the bottom of the 8th inning after the Bluefish blew the lead giving up 4 runs in the top half of the inning. Jay Caligiuri and Marcos Sanchez each singled, Nick Ortiz then smacked a singled to left scoring both runners and giving the ‘Fish a 1-run lead. Spivey added some insurance hitting a double and plating Ortiz.
Julio Guerrero is credited with his second loss of the season making his record 0-2. Bluefish starting pitcher Mike Porzio had another solid outing going 6.2 innings allowing three runs and struck out eight.
The Bluefish next host the Newark Bears Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Tuesday is Two-For-Tuesday with 2-for-1 specials, Patriot National Bank Fireworks, a Patriot National Bank hat giveaway, and a Bluefish jersey raffle. The game starts at a family friendly 6:05 P.M. so all can enjoy the fireworks!
