WINDY CITY SWEEPS GRIZZLIES

The Windy City ThunderBolts completed the three-game sweep of the Gateway Grizzlies with a 12-9 win Sunday night in front of 4,511 at GCS Ballpark.

The Grizzlies managed to make it interesting Sunday night, scoring four times in the bottom of the ninth. Stephen Holdren plated two with his 14th home run of the year. Ryan Sullivan added a two-run double to cut the lead to 12-9.

The Grizzlies (36-13) scored first Sunday night with a first inning run. Mike Breyman singled to score Ryan Saltzgaber.

Windy City (37-12) scored five times in the second inning to go up 5-1 and never looked back. They added two more in the top of the third to make it 7-1.

The Grizzlies added two in the third to cut the lead to 7-3. Josh Dietz picked up an RBI in the inning.

Jesse Acosta and Charlie Lisk each picked up RBIs in a two-run seventh for the Grizzlies.

Toro Trevino (7-1) suffered his first loss of the year in his shortest outing of the year. He lasted only four innings. He gave up eight runs on seven hits. He struck out six and walked three.

Jonathan Armitage was 2-2 for the game. Sullivan was 2-5 with two RBIs. Holdren was 1-2 with the two RBIs.

The Grizzlies head to Rockford to begin a three-game series Monday night at Road Ranger Stadium.
