JACKHAMERS OUTFIELDER CORY HARRIS NAMED PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Becomes the Third JackHammer to Earn Player of the Week Honors in 2007

JOLIET, IL-Joliet JackHammers right fielder Cory Harris has been named Northern League Player of the Week for the week ending July 1 after hitting .393 with four home runs and seven RBI and six runs scored. Harris accomplished the feat over six games against the Gary SouthShore RailCats and Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. The JackHammers begin a five-game home stand against the Edmonton Cracker-Cats at Silver Cross Field tonight at 7:05 p.m.

Harris’s best game came on June 30 against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks at Newman Outdoor Field. He went 3-5 with two solo home runs in the JackHammers 16-5 victory over the RedHawks. On Monday, June 25 against the Gary SouthShore RailCats at Silver Cross Field, Harris went 4-5 with three singles and a solo home run. One night later, he went 2-4 with a double and a solo home run in a 5-4 JackHammers victory.

Left-handed pitcher Jordy Alexander of the Calgary Vipers won Northern League Pitcher of the Week Honors by going 1-0 with an ERA of 0.00 in one start last week.

Loose Gravel: This is the fourth time a JackHammer has been named Player of the Week in 2007. Derek Nicholson won player of the week honors for the week ending May 30. Juan Diaz was named Player of the Week for his week back on June 18.

Last week JackHammers right-handed pitcher Nate Sevier was named Northern League Pitcher of the Week.
