REDHAWKS ESCAPE WITH A 6-2 WIN OVER THE JACKHAMMERS ON THURSDAY NIGHT

JOLIET, IL-The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (10-4) scored five runs in innings two through four to take a 5-0 lead en route to a 6-2 victory before 3,505 fans at Silver Cross Field on Thursday night.

The RedHawks scored one run in the second inning against JackHammers right-handed starter Raymond Jenkins (3-7) to take the early lead. Billy Munoz (2-5) hit a one-out single and moved to second base when Adam Shorsher (0-3) worked a walk. Mike Just (1-4)walked to load the bases. Jeremy Peschel (0-4) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score Munoz and give the RedHawks a 1-0 lead.

Fargo-Moorhead scored two runs in the third inning to jump out to a 3-0 lead. Richard Austin (2-4) hit a single and stole second base. A double by Ruben Salazar (2-4) scored Austin and made it 2-0.

Munoz hit an RBI single to push Salazar across home plate and give the RedHawks a 3-0 lead.

In the fourth inning, the RedHawks pushed across two more runs to jump out to a 5-0 advantage. Just singled to start off the inning and stole second base. He went to third base on a single by Casey Haugen (1-4).

Joe Mathis (2-4) hit an RBI single to score Just and Kory Wayment (1-5) hit a sacrifice fly to score Haugen.

The RedHawks scored one more run in the sixth inning to take a 6-0 lead.

Joliet got two runs back in the eighth inning on a two-run home run by Juan Diaz (1-3). It was Diaz’s league leading 16 home run.

Jenkins pitched three and one-thirds innings and suffered the loss. He allowed five runs on eight hits and walked two while striking out three.

Dane Renkert (8-1) pitched a complete game and yielded two runs on eight hits to get the victory.

L oose Gravel: The JackHammers made two roster moves before the game, signing RHP Josh Regits to a contract and placing Nick Renault on the disabled list. Regits was playing in the New York State League after finishing his college career at Madonna University (NAIA) in Livonia, MI. Renault will be lost for the rest of the season after getting his knee scoped. It is expected that he will need arthroscopic knee surgery at the end of the season.

Regits pitched three scoreless innings for the JackHammers in his Joliet debut.

The JackHammers now travel to ALEXIAN Field to take on the Schaumburg Flyers tomorrow night at 6:45 p.m. Brian Forystek (1-2, 3.47) will get the ball for the JackHammers against Tyler Adamczyk (0-1, 40.50) for the Flyers.
