1937 NEWARK BEARS CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATION TO COMPLETE EXCITING WEEKEND AT THE DEN
NEWARK, NJ – July 27, 2007 – A day removed from Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium’s second largest attendance in history with 6,643 fans, the Newark Bears Professional Baseball Club will begin an exciting weekend of events starting Friday evening with Weird NJ Night featuring a post-game fireworks spectacular and ending with the 1937 Newark Bears Championship Celebration featuring a replica hat giveaway to the first 1,500 fans presented by Haberman Building Corporation Sunday afternoon.
Gates open at 6:05 PM Friday evening for Weird NJ Night featuring a post-game fireworks spectacular. The Bears will welcome Weird NJ authors Mark Sceurman and Mark Moran as well as special characters from the books. All fans who present a copy of Weird NJ or wear Weird NJ apparel will receive FREE admission at the box office, and lucky fans will go home with a copy of Weird NJ Volume One.
On Saturday, the Bears will host a special evening honoring the United States Armed Forces with Salute the Troops Night. All fans who present an American Flag or all armed forces personnel who wear their uniform at the box office will receive a 2-for-1 ticket deal. In addition, Operation Salami Drop presented by Hobby’s Deli of Newark will be on hand collecting donations for men and woman overseas. Gates open at 5:05 PM and first pitch is scheduled for 6:05 PM.
The Bears will complete the weekend with a doubleheader on Sunday afternoon beginning at 3:05 PM. Gates open at 2:05 PM as the Bears honor the 1937 Newark Bears, a team widely regarded as the finest Minor League Baseball Team ever assembled with a Championship Celebration featuring a replica hat giveaway to the first 1,500 fans presented by Haberman Building Corporation. All fans who wear Bears replica or throwback apparel will receive FREE admission. During the game, fans will have the opportunity to participate in a silent auction to win the commemorative game worn jerseys worn by the Bears players in Sunday’s game.
