Gary, Ind.—The Gary SouthShore RailCats struggles with the Kansas City T-Bones continued on Friday night as the T-Bones snapped the RailCats six game winning streak and nine game home winning streak with a 5-3 victory at U. S. Steel Yard before a crowd of 5,699.  The RailCats, with a 20-7 overall record, have lost all four meetings this season with the T-Bones by a combined score of 38-13.  Kansas City improved to 12-15 with the win.

Kansas City built a 4-0 lead over the first two and one-half innings against RailCats starting pitcher Jim Paduch (3-1).  They scored an unearned run in the first, added another run in the second on a Paduch wild pitch, and scored two runs in the third on a run-scoring double by Mario Delgado and a sacrifice fly by Austin Easley.

The RailCats started back in the bottom of the third with two runs.  Jermaine Allensworth walked to start the inning, went to second on Steve Haake's single, and eventually scored on a ground out.  Nate Price delivered a two-out, run-scoring single later in the inning to make it 4-2.

Kansas City responded with a run in the fourth on Neb Brown's run-scoring single to stretch their lead to 5-2.

The RailCats scored one run in the sixth on Haake's two-out, RBI single, but could not score again against T-Bones relievers Travis Schlichting and Dan Jackson.  Schlichting tossed two and one-third innings to set up Jackson, who worked a scoreless ninth, for his sixth save.

Chris Krawczyk (1-0) was the starter and winner for Kansas City.  He allowed nine hits and three runs in five and two-thirds innings while walking four and striking out three.

Paduch gave up seven hits, five walks, and five runs (four earned) in five innings for the loss.

The RailCats stranded a season-high 14 base runners.  They collected 12 hits, all singles, and had runners on base in every inning.  They had 13 at bats with runners in scoring position but could net just three singles in those situations.

The RailCats had matched their club record nine game home winning streak that began in August, 2006 as they won their final eight home games of last season and then won their first home game of 2007.  Their home record in 2007 fell to 13-3.

The RailCats host the T-Bones in the second game of a three game series at U. S. Steel Yard on Saturday at 6:00 p.m.  Steve Obenchain (1-0, 2.51) will pitch for Gary against Kansas City's Kenny Durost (2-0, 4.11).  The first 1,500 fans will receive a free RailCats hat sponsored by Bennigan's and the Times of Northwest Indiana.

Notes:  Tanner Townsend extended his hitting streak to 10 straight games while Jermaine Allensworth extended his streak to seven straight…Left-handed pitcher Cole Stipovich made his professional debut with a scoreless inning…The RailCats are 0-4 against Kansas City this season and 20-3 against the other teams in the Northern League.
