Kansas City, Kansas—The Kansas City T-Bones blasted two grand slam home runs, pounded 23 base hits, and defeated the Gary SouthShore RailCats 19-3 on Thursday afternoon to complete a three game sweep of the series.  The RailCats, who had not lost two consecutive games all season prior to the series, dropped to 14-6 on the year.

Neb Brown hit two home runs including a grand slam while Rob Watson also added a grand slam for Kansas City.  Brad Correll, Mario Delgado, and Austin Easley each collected four hits.

After Brown drilled a solo home run in the first, Kansas City scored eight runs in the second inning against RailCats starting pitcher Jason Shelley (0-1).  Brown connected on a home run to right with three men aboard to highlight the inning as the T-Bones took a commanding 9-0 lead.

Kansas City added two more in the third on one in the fourth before exploding for seven runs against RailCats reliever Jarod Brown in the fifth inning as Watson, who hit two home runs on Wednesday night, blasted a grand slam to left field to give the T-Bones a 19-0 lead.

Tanner Townsend hit a solo home run in the seventh, his second of the year, to get the RailCats on the board.  Gary added single runs in the eighth and ninth against Kansas City starting pitcher Lavon Lewis (2-1) who tossed the second complete game performance of the series for the T-Bones.

The RailCats finished with 10 hits, the 11th time in the last 12 games they have reached double figures in base hits.  Jay Pecci had two hits including a triple and scored a run for Gary.

Shelley, who finished second in the league in wins in 2006, lasted three and two-thirds innings and allowed 13 hits and 12 earned runs as his earned run average for the year ballooned to 9.74.

The RailCats return home to U. S. Steel Yard to host the Joliet JackHammers on Friday and Saturday nights.  Friday night's game will start at 7:00 p.m. and a Fireworks Spectacular will follow the game, sponsored by Krazy Kaplans and the Post-Tribune.  Willie Glen (2-0, 4.71) will pitch for Gary on Friday against Joliet's Matt Smith.
