David Detienne led the RailCats comeback effort, delivering three hits including a double and triple. His triple in the bottom of the seventh drove in two runs to pull the RailCats to within one at 9-8 and Nate Price followed with a sacrifice fly to bring in Detienne and tie the game.
The RailCats scored the eventual winning run in the eighth when Jay Pecci singled to center, went to second on Jermaine Allensworth's sacrifice bunt and to third on Steve Haake's fly out to center. Pecci scored on a wild pick-off throw to third by
The RailCats started back in the bottom of the fifth inning when Detienne doubled, went to third on Dale Mueller's bunt single, and scored on Eric McNamee's fielder's choice play. McNamee scored later in the inning on Allensworth's two-out single to make it 8-3.
The RailCats scored five runs in the seventh to tie the game. Jay Pecci tripled to start the inning and scored on a wild pitch to make it 9-5. Allensworth reached on an error and scored on Steve Haake's double to make it 9-6. With one out, Tanner Townsend appeared to ground out to second to bring in Haake, but catcher's interference was called on Shorsher and Townsend was awarded first as Haake was sent back to third. Detienne followed with a looping fly ball just fair down the right field line that eluded the diving right fielder, Sambu Ndungidi, as Haake and Townsend scored and Detienne raced around to third before Price's sacrifice fly tied the game at 9-9.
After Pecci broke the tie in the bottom of the eighth,
Blackwell threw three innings of scoreless relief to improve his record to 3-0. Former major leaguer Lou Pote allowed six runs, all but two unearned, in two innings for the loss to fall to 2-1.
The RailCats had come back from several six-run deficits to win over their history, but had never come back to win a game after trailing by as many as seven.
The RailCats are off on Monday before opening a three game set in
