Schaumburg, Ill.—David Detienne collected four hits and scored three runs and Eric McNamee added three hits and two runs batted in as the Gary SouthShore RailCats completed a three game sweep of the Schaumburg Flyers on Sunday with a 10-6 win before a crowd of 3,839 at Alexian Field. The RailCats improved their record to 25-10 and increased their lead to nine and one-half games on second place Joliet pending the JackHammers Sunday evening game with Winnipeg. The RailCats win trimmed their magic number to five to clinch the Northern League South Division first half title.

The RailCats built a 4-0 lead over the first three and one-half innings, scoring one in the first on an RBI double by Jermaine Allensworth, adding one in the second on McNamee's infield hit to bring in a run, and then adding two in the top of the fourth on a pair of run-scoring hits by McNamee and Allensworth.

Schaumburg's David Hoffman drilled a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth inning to pull the Flyers to within a run at 4-3. But the RailCats answered with two runs in the top of the fifth on Nate Price's two-run double to make it 6-3.

RailCats rookie reliever Joe Panozzo entered the game to start the fifth inning and worked two scoreless innings, allowing no hits and one walk. He was followed to the mound by rookie Cole Stipovich in the seventh, and Stipovich surrendered two runs as the Flyers pulled to within a run at 6-5. Mike Rohde's RBI triple was the key hit in the inning.

But the RailCats added four runs in the top of the eighth to open a five run lead. Steve Haake's two-run triple keyed the inning. Schaumburg scored a single run in the bottom of the ninth to close out the scoring.

Panozzo was credited with his first professional victory in just his third game since completing his collegiate career at St. Joseph's College. Starting pitcher Steve Obenchain did not pitch the minimum of five innings required to earn a win. Obenchain allowed three runs in four innings.

The RailCats will meet Joliet on Monday at 7:05 p.m. at Silver Cross Field in the opener of a three game set. Travis Kerber (0-1, 7.71) will start for Gary. The RailCats return home on July 4^th.

Notes: Detienne became the first RailCat to collect four hits in a game this season…The RailCats' have beaten Schaumburg in eight of the nine meetings between the two clubs this season…The RailCats are 4-2 on their current 14 game road trip that will move to Winnipeg after three games in Joliet.
