June 30, 2007 Contact: Tom Nichols at (219) 882-2255
Gary, Ind.—The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club today announced their home playoff schedule and ticket information for the Northern League South Division Playoffs. The RailCats earned a playoff berth on Friday night by clinching the first half championship in the league's split-season format.
By winning the first half, the RailCats have earned the home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. They will play on the road for games one and two of the best-of-five series and host the remaining games. Games one and two will be played on September 4th and 5th.
Game three of the South Division playoffs will be played at U. S. Steel Yard on Friday, September 7th. If the series continues for games four and five, those games will be played on Saturday, September 8th and Sunday, September 9th at U. S. Steel Yard.
Tickets for the September 7th game will go on sale Friday, July 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ticket Office at U. S. Steel Yard, by phone at (219) 882-2255, and on-line at www.railcatsbaseball.com. Tickets are $11.00 for box seats, $10.00 for reserved seats, and $8.00 for outfield terrace seating.
If the series continues for game four, tickets will go on sale for that game immediately after the conclusion of the game on September 7th.
The RailCats will meet the South Division second half champion in the first round of the playoffs. If the RailCats win the second half, they will play the team with the best full-season record among those teams that did not win a first half or second half title. That club could come from either division.
The 2007 season will mark the third straight trip to the post-season for the RailCats, who won the league title in 2005 and advanced to the league championship series (finals) in 2006.
The RailCats return home July 4th to open a five game series with Fargo-Moorhead.
