Gary, Ind.—The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club announced today that right-handed pitcher Jim Paduch has been activated from the disabled list.  He will start tonight's game at Winnipeg.

Right-handed relief pitcher David Byard has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to June 27th.  Byard will be eligible to return to action next Wednesday, July 4th, when the RailCats open their final home series of the first half.

Paduch is 3-2 with a 4.39 earned run average in eight games (seven starts) with the RailCats this season.  He last pitched on June 20th.

Byard is 1-0 with a 2.78 ERA in 16 games out of the bullpen.

The RailCats' roster remains at the Northern League limit of 22 players.

The RailCats, in first place with a 27-11 record, can clinch the Northern League South Division first half title with one more victory in the 10 remaining games of the first half.  They have already tied a franchise record for wins in a half and need five more wins to match the Northern League record for most wins in the first half of the league's split-season format.

More Information:  The Gary SouthShore RailCats are a Professional Minor League Baseball Team serving Northwest Indiana and Chicago's south suburbs.  For the last four years, they have been chosen "Best Local Spectator Sport" by Northwest Indiana Business Quarterly.  Their 96 game schedule includes 47 home games at beautiful U.
