Gary, Ind.—The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club announced today that pitcher Steve Edsall has been activated from the disabled list.  To make room for Edsall on the roster, the RailCats placed pitcher Cole Stipovich on irrevocable waivers. 

 

Edsall suffered a broken ring finger on his pitching (right) hand on May 27th when he was struck by a line drive in Edmonton.  He has pitched in five games with season with no wins or losses, allowing five runs in three and one-third innings.  Edsall had a solid year for the RailCats in 2006, going 3-2 with a 4.27 earned run average in 40 games.

 

Stipovich pitched in five games, allowing seven runs in three and one-third innings with no wins or losses.

 

The RailCats roster remains at the Northern League limit of 22 players.

 

The RailCats, in first place with a 25-10 record, play at Joliet tonight (Monday) at 7:05.  They return to Gary on July 4th.

 

The RailCats have a nine game lead with 13 games to play in the Northern League South Division first half race.
