KINGS ROUT GRIZZLIES

The Kalamazoo Kings (14-11) scored 11 unanswered runs Sunday afternoon en route to an 11-4 over the Gateway Grizzlies (18-7) at Homer Stryker Field in Kalamazoo, MI.

Mike Breyman got the Grizzlies on the board in the top of the first inning.  Breyman came to the plate with the bases loaded following three one-out walks.  Breyman crushed his third career grand slam to right to put Gateway up 4-0.  The three grand slams ties Breyman with Phil Warren for the most in franchise history.  Breyman finished the day 3-4 with the four RBIs.  Breyman was the only Grizzlies player with more than a single hit.

The Kings would come back with three runs in the second inning and two more in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead and chase Grizzlies starter Justin Roelle (0-2).  Roelle went five innings allowing the five runs on seven hits.  He walked two and struck out two.  Jeremy Dow allowed three runs in 2.1 innings of work against his former team.  Kyle Warren also allowed three runs in just .2 innings of work.  Dow and Warren combined to allow five runs in the eighth to seal the Kings' win.

The Grizzlies are now 2-3 on the roadtrip and finish the trip with a 6:05 (central time) series finale Monday in Kalamzoo.  Nathan Roush (2-2) goes for the Grizzlies Monday.
