GRIZZLIES HONOR DANNY COX TONIGHT; WILL RETIRE NUMBER 34

The Gateway Grizzlies will honor former manager Danny Cox tonight at GCS Ballpark.  The Grizzlies will retire the number 34 worn by Cox as manager of the Grizzlies.

The ceremony will take place during the third inning of tonight's Grizzlies game with the Kalamazoo Kings.

Cox served four seasons as the Grizzlies manager, preceded by two seasons as Grizzlies pitching coach.  Cox led the Grizzlies to the 2003 Frontier League title, and a franchise-record 56 wins as well as a second straight playoff appearance in 2004.

The first 1,000 fans to tonight's game will receive lapel pins styled after the number 34 Grizzlies jersey.  The pins are courtesy of the Casino Queen and the Grizzlies.

The Grizzlies are currently in first place in the Frontier League's West Division.  They own a 20-9 record under new manager Phil Warren.
