GRIZZLIES END SLIDE

Toro Trevino (4-0) allowed two earned runs on just two hits Wednesday night to lead the Gateway Grizzlies (19-9) past the Traverse City Beach Bums (12-16) 8-3 at GCS Ballpark.

Trevino struck out three and retired the last 13 hitters he faced. Brandon Kellbach pitched two of innings of scoreless relief.

Stephen Holdren hit a two-run shot to right in the second to give the Grizzlies a 2-1 lead. The Beach Bums scored two in the third to regain the lead at 3-2. The Grizzlies took the lead for good in the third with three runs. Greg Andrews and Charlie Lisk each had RBIs in the inning. Lisk was 3-3 with the RBI.

Mike Breyman capped the scoring with a two run home run in the sixth. The homer, his sixth, is his fourth in five games.

The Grizzlies and Beach Bums will play the rubber match of the three-game series Thursday afternoon at GCS Ballpark. Start time is 12:35 p.m. Chris Little (2-1) will start for the Grizzlies.
