GRIZZLIES DROP FIRST TO KINGS
 
The Gateway Grizzlies (18-6) scored a pair of ninth inning runs Saturday night, but fell to the Kalamazoo Kings (13-11) 5-3 in front of 1,901 at Homer Stryker Field in Kalamzoo, MI.
 
The Grizzlies trailed 5-1 heading into the ninth before scoring the runs with three hits.  Jesse Acosta and Manny Paula each drove in runs with hits in the ninth.  Paula finished 3-4 with the RBI.  Acosta was 2-5 with the run driven in.
 
The Kings took an early lead with a run in the first off Grizzlies starter Chris Little (2-1).  The Grizzlies answered in the top of the second when Mike Breyman connected on his third home run of the year to lead off the inning.  Breyman finished 2-3.
 
The Kings would go up 3-1 with a pair of unearned runs in the fourth.  They would add single runs in the sixth and eighth innings to make it 5-1.
 
Little suffered the loss for the Grizzlies.  He gave up four runs, two earned, on 10 Kings' hits.  He struck out two and did not walk a batter.
 
The Grizzlies and Kings continue the series with a 1:05 p.m. (central time) game Sunday afternoon in Kalamazoo, MI.
