GRIZZLIES COMEBACK FOR WIN

The Gateway Grizzlies (17-5) got more late game magic and an outstanding effort from starter Erik Dessau Thursday night in Traverse City.  A pair of two-out base hits in the ninth inning lifted the Grizzlies to a come-from behind 3-2 win over the Traverse City Beach Bums (9-13).

Dustin Roberts doubled to the right-center field gap with two outs in the top of the ninth.  Mike Breyman followed with a single to left, driving in Roberts and breaking a 2-2 tie.

Dessau (3-0) went eight innings allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits.  He walked two and did not strike out a batter.  Dessau twice got out of innings when the Beach Bums had the bases loaded.  Eric Ridener pitched the ninth, allowing a hit and striking out one, for his league-leading seventh save in seven chances.

The Beach Bums went ahead 2-0 in the third.  Zach Kalter drove in a pair with a single.

The Grizzlies answered with one out in the sixth.  Jesse Acosta singled and Stephen Holdren followed with his team-leading sixth home run of the year.  The opposite field shot tied the game at 2.

The Grizzlies and Beach Bums meet Friday for the rubber match.  Game time is 6:05 p.m. (central time).  Toro Trevino (2-0) will get the ball for the Grizzlies.
