‘FISH STICK A FORK IN YORK
In a nail-biting 4 hour, 11 inning game, the Bluefish came out on top in the 8-7 match-up with a walk-off homerun by Jay Caligiuri. Evan Fahrner (1-0) picked up his first win of the season in three innings of relief.
The hot bats of the Bluefish were able to keep up momentum from last night’s game, as four ‘Fish recorded 2 RBIs each. Caligiuri and Shaun Boyd both went yard in the match-up, Boyd recording his second big fly in two games. Angel Espada (3-5, 2 R) also extends his hitting streak to 14 games, the longest of any Bluefish so far this season.
Jesse Hoorelbeke and Bobby Malek started Bridgeport off in the bottom of the first inning with a SAC fly each. The Revolution were able to battle back in the fifth to tie it up at two, then the score was tied up three more times during the duration of the game before the ‘Fish were able to finish it off.
Due to the depletion of relievers from a 13 inning game Saturday, York was forced to turn to their starting catcher Greg Brown (0-5, R) to pitch in the extra innings. Brown was able to get through the tenth allowing only one hit and struck out one, but the bats of the Bluefish were too hot to handle after that and he picks up the loss.
The Bluefish continue with the 2nd game of the three-game series tomorrow, Monday June 25th at 7:05 P.M. Monday is All-Faith Bulletin Night with special kid’s prizes. Run the bases after every game this season at the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
