‘FISH ROCK THE REVOLUTION

Bluefish starting pitcher Matt Beech goes eight and wins his seventh game of the season, tying him for the Atlantic League lead, beating the York Revolution 7-4.

York got on the board early as Matt Dryer was plated by a single off the bat of Luis Taveras in the second inning. Nate Espy extended their lead in the third with a bomb clearing the left field wall, scoring Keoni De Renne and Ramon Nivar.

The ‘Fish turned it up in the fourth as Bobby Malek smacked a single to right field bringing home Junior Spivey and Nick Ortiz. Later in the inning, with the bases loaded for a second time, Angel Espada drove in Jay Caligiuri with a fielder’s choice grounder. During the next at bat, Chris Steinborn’s wild pitch allowed Tommy Rojas to come across the plate and tie up the game 4-4.

The Bluefish were able to keep the heat on through the next two innings with Caligiuri knocking in two in the fifth inning, and Ortiz was walked with bases loaded in the sixth to score the last run of the game.

York starting pitcher Chris Steinborn picks up his third loss of the season with six runs, four earned through five innings of work. Bluefish closer Eddy Ramos was the only relief to see the field after Beech went eight innings, picking up his ninth save of the season.

The Bluefish take to the road for a three-game series against the Somerset Patriots, and return home this Saturday for three against the Road Warriors. Saturday holds post-game fireworks and has a family friendly 6:05 P.M. start time. Also appearing at the park this Saturday is Hula Hoop extraordinaire Anna Jack and a gym-bag giveaway!
