ANGEL’S STEALS RUFFLE DUCKS FEATHERS

 

Angel Espada (2-4, 2 R, 4 SB, RBI) records four stolen bases and Justin Sturge records his league leading sixth win in the 5-2 defeat of the Long Island Ducks. This closes out the three game series against the Ducks with the ‘Fish taking two.

 

The Bluefish jumped ahead early as Junior Spivey plated Espada with an RBI single down the third-base line, but the Ducks came back strong with two consecutive RBI singles by Jose Offerman and Derek Wathan in the top of the third.  This was the last lead Long Island held during the game.

 

Espada scored again in the bottom of the third off of a Quinton McCracken single to center field to tie it up.  Then during the fifth, Jay Caligiuri was waved in after an Espada single to the left side, giving the ‘Fish back the lead.  Bridgeport gave themselves a cushion as Bobby Malek and Jay Caligiuri crossed the plate in the bottom of the seventh.

 

Long Island’s Donovan Osborne takes his first loss of the season, allowing four earned runs over seven innings of work.  Ex-Bluefish Jamie Pogue was the lone standout for the Quack Pack, going two-for-three with a run.  Bluefish Eddy Ramos picks up his seventh save of the season.

 

The ‘Fish will now go on the road to play Lancaster over the weekend, then Camden early next week.  They will be back at the Ballpark on Thursday, June 21st, battling the Road Warriors.  The game will start at 7:05 pm and Thirsty Thursday will include half-priced beer, soda, and popcorn.
