Road Warriors Put The Brakes On ‘Fish

Despite eight walks given by the Bluefish pitchers, they were able to keep the game close up until the final strike. Matt Beech picks up the loss in a nail-biting finish as the Road Warriors edged the Bluefish 5-4.

The Bluefish recorded four runs on eight hits, two coming from Shaun Boyd and two more from Nick Ortiz. However, the defensive prowess of the Road Warriors proved to make the difference as third baseman David Housel robbed two hard-hit line drives by Jay Caligiuri, hits that may have changed the outcome of the game.

David Housel contributed offensively as well going one-for-two with three runs. Vito Chiaravolloti also had a hot bat, hitting twice in four at-bats and plated four. One of those hits was a three-run homerun off Beech in the bottom of the 5^th.

This loss brings Matt Beech’s record to 6-3 and Trevor Marcotte picks up the win to even up his record at 3-3. Julio Guerrero closed out the game, recording his 2^nd save of the season.

The Bluefish face-off against the Road Warriors again tomorrow Friday, June 21^st at 7:05 P.M. Friday at the Ballpark is Fun-For-All Fridays with live music, prizes and giveaways. Saturday against the Road Warriors holds a family friendly 6:05 P.M. start time with fireworks following the game.
