The RailCats scored four runs in the second inning and added three more in the third to take a 7-0 lead and knock Flyers starter Eiji Yano out of the game after just two and one-third innings of work.
With one out in the second, David Detienne doubled to left-center field to start the rally, and Mike Reese singled to right to bring in Detienne and make it 1-0. Dale Mueller bunted for a hit to move Reese to second, and Eric McNamee singled down the right field line to bring in Reese. After Jay Pecci walked, Jermaine Allensworth walked with the bases loaded to force in Mueller. Then Steve Haake's sacrifice fly to center brought in McNamee to make it 4-0.
Tanner Townsend drilled a two-run home run in the third, the first homer of the year for the RailCats. Later in the same inning, Reese singled, stole second, and eventually scored on McNamee's single to make it 7-0.
Meanwhile Glen cruised through six innings, throwing 87 pitches while allowing three hits and no runs with one walk and six strikeouts to earn his first win of the season and improve his career record with the RailCats to 21-8. Steve Obenchain tossed two perfect innings in relief of Glen and Steve Edsall pitched a scoreless ninth.
The RailCats had 12 hits. McNamee and David Detienne had three hits each and both have hit in all five RailCats games.
The RailCats continue the series with the Flyers at U. S. Steel Yard Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Josh Habel will start for
Notes: The Gary bullpen has combined for 18 and two-thirds scoreless innings on the year…The RailCats did not win their fourth game in 2006 until the 15th game of the year…Including his two playoff starts in 2006, Glen has made four consecutive without allowing a run while he was on the mound. He was charged with one run on Thursday when a reliever allowed an inherited runner to score. He tossed 17 scoreless innings in the two playoff starts last season.
