RailCats Suffer Road Loss in Pre-Season Action

Crestwood, Ill.--The Gary SouthShore RailCats continued their seven-game pre-season schedule on Saturday, losing 6-3 in 10 innings to Windy City. The loss dropped the RailCats to 1-3 during the pre-season.

The RailCats were limited to five hits in the game. Designated hitter Nate Price collected two hits including a solo home run. The RailCats scored twice in the first inning, keyed by back-to-back hits by Eric Blakeley and Jose Yepez to lead off the game. Mike Reese had the other RailCats hit.

Reliever Brad Mumma suffered the loss for the RailCats, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk in two innings of work.

The RailCats host Windy City at U. S. Steel Yard on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. They host Rockford at 11:30 a.m. on Monday and close out the pre-season by hosting Joliet on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m.

Notes: The RailCats welcomed the arrival of first baseman David Detienne, a Canadian who been delayed by visa problems. He was with the club in Windy City on Saturday. Detienne played at the Double-A level in the New York Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers organizations.
