Gary, Ind.—The Gary SouthShore RailCats Professional Baseball Club will conduct several events over the next few days as spring training opens for 2007.

RAILCATS TRY-OUT CAMP SET FOR tuesday

The RailCats will conduct their annual Try-Out Camp on Tuesday, May 1st starting at 9:00 a.m. at U. S. Steel Yard in Gary. RailCats manager Greg Tagert will oversee the camp. Players age 18 and above are invited. Players should bring their own glove and spikes. Players may also bring their own wood bats and helmets if they choose. Bats and helmets will be available. Only wood bats will be permitted for use.

Last year, the RailCats signed outfielder Mike Coles after he attended the try-out camp. Coles, a product of Hammond High School and Purdue University, spent the entire season with the RailCats and batted .274 in 74 games.

SPRING TRAINING OPENS THURSDAY; MEDIA PHOTO DAY SCHEDULED

The RailCats will open their 2007 Spring Training Camp on Thursday, May 2nd. All media is invited to attend the RailCats Media Photo Day from 12:00 noon-12:30 p.m. The first workout will take place at approximately 1:00 p.m. Workouts will continue daily until further notice.

RAILCATS NATIONAL ANTHEM TRY-OUTS TO BE HELD FRIDAY, MAY 4th

The RailCats will hold try-outs for National Anthem singers for RailCats 2007 home games on Friday, May 4th from 4:00-6:00 PM at U. S. Steel Yard.

Singers are needed to perform the National Anthem at all 47 RailCats home games. Singers are also needed to perform the Canadian Anthem at 13 RailCats games vs. Canadian teams. Applicants should gather at the main entry gate of the ballpark. Tryouts will be held on the field. Contact Bob Woelfel with questions at (219) 882-2255, Ext. 232.

RAILCATS OPEN HOUSE SET FOR SATURDAY, MAY 5TH

The RailCats annual Open House will take place on Saturday, May 5th at U. S. Steel Yard from 12:00 noon-3:00 p.m. The event will include an on-field clinic from 1:00-2:20 p.m. and a question and answer session from 2:30-3:00 p.m. Admission is free.

EXHIBTION SCHEDULE TO INCLUDE FOUR HOME GAMES

The RailCats will open their 2007 pre-season schedule at Joliet on May 9th. The 'Cats will play four spring training games at the Steel Yard. They are May 11th vs. Schaumburg at 1:00 p.m.; May 13th vs. Windy City at 2:00 p.m.; May 14th vs. Rockford at 11:30 a.m.; May 15th vs. Joliet at 2:30 p.m.
